Sounding Out The City
Where the sounds are "light on the attitude, heavy on the beat." You'll hear rare grooves, hard jazz, heavy funk, broken beats, library grooves, house, deep soul, Latin flavours, Brazilian vibes, left-field hiphop, rock, drum n bass, afro-beats--all these sounds and more, hand picked and blended fresh into 30-minute mixes, Wednesdays at noon.

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we start off with deep and spacey hiphop beats from Brenk, Onra, Exile, and Dirty Drummer.
We then get into a dope little blend of Patti Jo and Mos Def, followed by some deep funk from BW Souls, and some modern funky business from James Pants. Then it's a revision of a Nat King Cole classic and some wobbly broken beats from Domu.
A dash of house music comes in next with the sounds of Erobique, a couple club bangers from Tittsworth and Lady Tigra, and we end off on a deep filter-laden remix of Soho's classic "Hot Music".
Enjoy!

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we have a few tracks from Nat King Cole's "Re:Generations" that came out recently that updates his classic material to today's sound.
We also have some great funky and groovy sounds from the past and present that come on with some heavy breaks and party vibes for the dancefloor.
Enjoy!

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we start of with some soulful sounds from Henson with “Part Time Lady”, Liza Minelli (!?!) with a fantastic version of “Use Me”, and Stevie Wonder’s version of “Light My Fire”. From there, we get into some good house music by MXM, Roland Appel, and Stee Downes.
We take a dip into nujazz with “Il Sorpasso” before taking a sharp turn into some killer 80s disco with the classic “Southern Freeez”. Then it’s onto a blend of Estelle’s “American Boy” that I’m really feeling right now by Record Peddler, which mixes in nicely with a soulful rare groove gem from The Impressions. We finish up with a little funk breaks courtesy of Ruckus Roboticus.
Enjoy!

My Profile
Driftwood
I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
