Sounding Out The City
Where the sounds are "light on the attitude, heavy on the beat." You'll hear rare grooves, hard jazz, heavy funk, broken beats, library grooves, house, deep soul, Latin flavours, Brazilian vibes, left-field hiphop, rock, drum n bass, afro-beats--all these sounds and more, hand picked and blended fresh into 30-minute mixes, Wednesdays at noon.

Welcome To Another Episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we start off with some moody and atmospheric stuff from the legendary Cal Tjader, some brand new stuff from Bibio, and a nice Hot Coins remix of Joubert Singers. We then hit a genre-defying cut called Lysine by Max Tundra before getting funky with a sick edit of a Swan Silvertones track.
We keep it funky with Lee Austin's "Steal Away" and then jazzy with Esther Phillips' "Just Say Goodbye", and then soulful with J. Jocko's "I'm Gettin' Over".
After that, we get into the reggae sounds of Donovan Carless, and a remix of Mayer Hawthorne.
We end it off with some funky electro by The Chandeliers, and then a blend of Clutchy Hopkins, Biggie Smalls, and DJ Day.
Enjoy!

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
