Sounding Out The City
Where the sounds are "light on the attitude, heavy on the beat." You'll hear rare grooves, hard jazz, heavy funk, broken beats, library grooves, house, deep soul, Latin flavours, Brazilian vibes, left-field hiphop, rock, drum n bass, afro-beats--all these sounds and more, hand picked and blended fresh into 30-minute mixes, Wednesdays at noon.

***BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL ISSUES I AM NOT ABLE TO UPLOAD A NEW EPISODE. IF THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK I WILL LOOK INTO POSTING MIXES ON A BLOG UNTIL I SET UP MY OWN WEBSITE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE (May 24)***
Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we start off with some mellow beats and hard to categorize sounds from Ketepica, Yppah, and Mocky. We then get into some great soulful jazz from Carl H Hall, and tough funk from Lee Fields followed by a nice cover of “Jungle Fever” by Sheeba.
It’s more great funky sounds after that from Los Dinamicos Exciters, The Pharaohs, Beginning of The End, and The Pipe. We then shift into some sick disco sounds from Moxie (2008), DJ Harvey (1995), and James Mason (1977).
Enjoy!

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.

blindin' mate. Like a true Soul Weekender or a night at the Raw Club in London circa 1986. Much appreciated.
Thanks for your kind words, Jamie!
