Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week’s mix gets started with some ‘library-esque’ sounds from Ch3vy before moving onto some proper R&B by Sweden’s Kissey Asplund, then onto some dusty nugget weirdness by Liliental and Maker.
Indian Ropeman is up next with some nice downtempo goodness before The Koliphones take things to another level with a sick track called “Voyage in the Sun”. I then dropped an old house favourite by Int’l Pony (circa 2003), follwed by a nice Jon Kennedy rework, and then a couple B’more-type joints by Ayers and Tittsworth.
Gears get shifted once more for a remixed punk rock track by Adam Kesher, then Tarantino’s “Death Proof” end credit tune “Chick Habit” before closing out on some house-y type stuff. So, it’s a mish-mash of goodies all round and I hope you dig it.

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week’s mix is kind of on the ambient side of breakbeats during the first half, delving into some left-field hiphop from Maker, The Nutsons, and Sound Providers. Then there’s some genre-defying goodness from Pilooski and Cut Chemist.
The pace picks up a bit at the 15 minute mark with “6 ft Wasp” by Fila Brazilia (thanks for sorting that tune out Richie!), and one of my favourites “Bedsheet Shuffle” with it’s sick dubby-spy sounds. Simply wicked.
Then it’s on to some proper funky breaks with Flash Callahan from the Jalapeno label. After that, it’s a dope, sleazy and deep Detriot house groover by Linkwood--the same outfit that did “Piece of Mind”, which got plenty of play by Gilles Peterson. This one is at least as good as “Piece of Mind” in my opinion.
It all wraps up with a remix of a 2001 (?) house track I first heard during my Saint Germain Café compilation days (as a listener, not a contributor).

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
