Sounding Out The City
Where the sounds are "light on the attitude, heavy on the beat." You'll hear rare grooves, hard jazz, heavy funk, broken beats, library grooves, house, deep soul, Latin flavours, Brazilian vibes, left-field hiphop, rock, drum n bass, afro-beats--all these sounds and more, hand picked and blended fresh into 30-minute mixes, Wednesdays at noon.

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week’s selections: Jazz, downtempo, Latin, Nujazz, Bollywood, rare grooves, hiphop
We start out with some rhythmic jazz from library maestro Janko Nilovic before heading off on a couple spacey soundscapes. We then hear unreleased stuff from K15, a cut’n’paste gem from Daedelus, and sweet downtempo from Chungking.
Next, we get some funky Kingston-influenced business from DJ Format and Ticklah. We then veer sharply to the left with a fuzzy guitar break before getting into some latin territory with Joe Cuba and Alfredo Linares. After that, it’s a jazz classic covered by Peggy O’Keefe, which leads to some brand new stuff from Mr. Scruff and the Ninja Tuna LP.
We close out with a Bollywood track re-edited for open-minded parties, and then a soundtrack classic juggled by yours truly.
Enjoy!

My Profile
Driftwood
I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
