Episode #066 - Infatuation

(93 downloads)

Download this mix (30 min)
Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...

This week’s mix starts off with some pretty sick Airto produced fusion circa 1975, followed by some amazing ambient jazz, then a track by D’nell, which was massive with the underground crowd in 2004-2005 and still sounds great today. After that, we hear some new music from French hiphop producer Wax Tailor, and an unreleased instrumental gem from Souljim.

Next, it’s a couple more unreleased tracks before we hear Ninja Tune recording artist Daedelus come in with his signature quirky breaks and beats. Then it’s onto a cinematic masterpiece from Grantby, brand new music from a group called “Ave.To”, and an electro-pop killer from N.E.R.D. that made me dance a few holes into my socks.

DJ Czech comes next with a wicked cut ’n’ paste dancer, followed by brand new music from Mr. Scruff. After that, it’s a wicked and very rare soulful groover from Dorsey Brockington. And it all comes to a finale with some unreleased stuff from the very talented “Mike the 2600 King” that should have been on an MPM compilation but was left off for *cough cough* reasons unknown.

Enjoy!

Hi

I added your site to my blogroll, hope that is ok.

http://endlessmixtape.blogspot.com/

If you could add a link to my site, I would be most appreciative.

I'm trying to build up a list of people with mixtapes on their blogs. (If you have any friends sites, you think I should add please let me know.)

thanks

My Profile

Driftwood

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them. My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.

You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.

Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.

For your requests, questions, or just to get in touch, email: soundingoutthecity@hotmail.com
Cheers.
