Sounding Out The City
Where the sounds are "light on the attitude, heavy on the beat." You'll hear rare grooves, hard jazz, heavy funk, broken beats, library grooves, house, deep soul, Latin flavours, Brazilian vibes, left-field hiphop, rock, drum n bass, afro-beats--all these sounds and more, hand picked and blended fresh into 30-minute mixes, Wednesdays at noon.

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week’s mix is more “electro” in feel all the way through. Starting off with a couple of rare synth-laden library disco cuts from 1980 and 1978 respectively, we move into some dubby broken beat from Sonar Circle, then a quirky little track that will put a smile on your face if you’ve ever played Atari video games.
We then shift gears a bit with some really catchy (and really dirty) club music from Thunderheist before Daedelus brings in some Westcoast dublab flavours with “Drummery Jam”. One of my favourite tracks of 2008 comes in next, and then it’s straight dubstep filth from the grimy UK streets with Jazzsteppa, followed by a wobbly monster from genre heavyweights Benga and Skream circa 2004.
We then segue into some soulful 2-step electro from Mr. De, which sets up a massive dubstep anthem from Skream & Cluekid. Next up, it’s a bit of electro-infused house with a track called “Swing Ratio”, and it all comes to a wrap with a huge electro-pop track that’s been out for a while now but sounds oh so good in the summertime.
Enjoy!

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
