Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week, we start you off with source material from Mr. Scruff's best known track Keep Moving : Bird's Lament by Moondog, then we get into some instrumental action--first a funky disco track followed by a blues-y funk number by Little Sonny.
Next, we get into some familiar territory with Hudson County's Bim Sala Bim, some old school hiphop withA Tribe Called Quest before a party shaking tune by The Project gets things moving.
We then get into a broken beat remix of Michael Jackson's classic Billie Jean before The Apples and The Brooklyn People bring some funk to the party.
It stays funky 'til we get to a couple ofdusty nuggets in John Sangster's Hair, and the closer Ain't No Sunshine by Gregory James Edition.

Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week's mix starts with a groovy Polish jazz track with dreamy female vocals on it, followed by a head-nodding bigband jazz number by the Plumstead Radical Club.
Sharon Jones comes in next with one of the funkiest protest songs I've ever heard. Things get funky and then dubby after that before Deee-Lite kicks it into gearwiththe party-themed I.F.O.
We then head to the Carribean where the Lever Brothers supply a funky uptempo steelband tune, followed by a new twist on Tito Puente's old classic Ran Kan Kan.
We close it out with a Charlie Parker jazz-dancer tweaked by the supremely talented Quantic.

My Profile
Driftwood
I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
