Welcome to another episode of Sounding Out The City...
This week's mix starts off with a psychedelic folk excursion by Nancy Priddy, followed by a clavinet and percussion heavy afro groover by Ramsey Lewis, and a soulful jazz funk lounger aptly named "Right On".
We then get into a deadly Gary Davis disco jazz instrumental called "Gee Dee" before Swell Session and Mr. Scruff bring some proper house music with "No No".
Minus 8 comes in next with a nice jazzy breaks lounger before Mark Ronson heats things up with a haunting version of "Valerie" sung by Amy Winehouse.
Pablo follows up with one of my all time faves in "Super Sweet" while Small World brings a quirky sample-heavy R&B track.
Library heavyweights Alan Parker and Alan Hawkshaw come together for a groovy jazz rocker called "Hot Pants" before we shift to an excellent cut-and-pastejazz loop called"Jazzhole" by the oddly named California based Free The Robots.
Panacea brings some dope left-field hiphop with "Starlite" from their "Ink Is My Drink" album, and the mix ends with a DJ Shadow tune called "The 6 Day War" that came out a few years back, but seems to fit with the times, as not much has changed since...

I started out making mixes for myself to listen to during drives and subway rides. Somewhere along the way, I thought other people might enjoy the music in the mixes as much as I do, so I began posting them.
My wish is simply to share what I consider to be really good yet seldom heard music with others.
You'll hear 30 minute mixes that incorporate rare grooves from the past along with the modern sounds of today, and a dash of various flavours--from latin jazz, to disco, to classic rock, to sample-based beat oriented styles and beyond.
Please leave a comment if you like what you are hearing and share this podcast with others.
